I have never imagined starting my first post speaking about an Asian movie; I felt in love with the Asian movies through Wang Kar-Wai’s master pieces, he is my first love…I can’t forget 2046, lost in ecstasy watching the cigarette smoke painting that blackness into shades of white (there are no shades of white!!).
This time though my love is for a south Korean movie by Bang Joon-Ho “Memories of murder“, it left me with those wide eyes opened staring at the black screen while the names are running for an end.
The photography was simple but simply well studied into perfection. If you close your eyes after watching it you will still see flashes of grey in millions of its shades.
What amazes me really about the Asian movies (good ones) that a movies can be two hours long, you can’t predict how it is going to finish until the last two minutes, you’re going to keep thinking if you really did understand it for the next two hours walking back home from the movie theatre but the most long pleasure you are going to experience is that you are going to keep thinking on this movie for months and may be years.
This happened to me after watching, 2046, Pietà and yes, now I know that “Memories of murder” will give me such a chill down my spine.
